L’Epée 1839: From music boxes to horological masterpieces
Founded in 1839 in Saint Suzanne, France, as a manufacture for music boxes and timepieces, L'Epée quickly became a legend in the world of watches. By 1850, the company held several patents, and developed its own watch escapements. The company was awarded gold medals at several world exhibitions over the next decades.
During the years that followed and into the middle of the 20th century, L'Epée concentrated on developing its own mechanical movements and precision instruments even further.
L'Epée equipped the famous "Concorde" with wall-mounted clocks for the passenger cabin in 1976 - to this day the only clocks to have been fitted to the legendary supersonic civil aviation aircraft.
